DOOR Neptunus won its tenth consecutive game on Saturday-evening to remain unbeaten since the start of the season. Tonight, Neptunus handed ADO a big 15-5 loss.
At Haarlem, Corendon Kinheim won big 12-2 vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW. Kinheim rallied for seven runs in the fifth inning and had nine hits, including five doubles. Winning pitcher David Bergman won his fourth game.
At Amsterdam, Konica Minolta Pioniers shutout Amsterdam Pirates 8-0. Pitchers Roger Kops and Erik Jan Lind combined on a 4-hitter, while their teammates collected 17 basehits with eight of the nine players in the starting batting order each hitting at least two.
At Rotterdam, DOOR Neptunus defeated ADO, 15-5, and need only 6 1/2 inning to accomplish this. ADO-pitcher Johannes Gregorius made his big league-debut, but gave up six hits and eleven runs. All nine starting Neptunus-players scored at least once. Winning pitcher Leon Boyd raised his record to 4-0.
At Almere, the game between Instant Holland Almere '90 Magpies and Sparta/Feyenoord was canceled because the field was unplayable due to the rain of recent days. The game is re-scheduled for Tuesday, May 22.
With a 4-1 victory on Sunday, ADO ended the winning streak of DOOR Neptunus, which had won ten games since the start of the season. Coincidentally, the first loss of the season was handed to Neptunus by former player Wim Martinus, who this season is the Head Coach of ADO.
At Bussum, Corendon Kinheim crushed Mr. Cocker HCAW, 19-4 on 18 basehits, including homeruns by Denny Beljaards, Vince Rooi and Jeffrey Verbij. All nine players in the Kinheim-batting order had at least one hit, with four of them hitting three basehits. Eight players scored at least one run, with Dirk van 't Klooster scoring four. Jeffrey Verbij only missed the triple for going-for-the-cycle.
At Hoofddorp, Amsterdam Pirates won its second game of the season, beating Konica Minolta Pioniers 8-2. Pioniers had taken a 2-0 after three innings and scored its first run on a homerun by Norbert Lokhorst, but Pirates came alongside in the fourth, then took the lead in the fifth on a 2-run double by Remco Draijer. In the seventh inning, Bas de Jong hit a 2-out grand slam homerun to make it 8-2. De Jong had five RBI's in the game.
At The Hague, ADO won 4-1 vs. DOOR Neptunus to end the 10-game winning streak of the Rotterdam-team. ADO-starter Elvis Polanco walked six batters and hit two others, but gave up his first basehit in the seventh inning. The 10-game winning streak was the best season-start for Neptunus since it had won eleven in a row in 2001.
At Rotterdam, Instant Holland Almere '90 win big vs. Sparta/Feyenoord, 16-6. The Magpies had 17 basehits, including four by Bryan Engelhardt, who had two doubles and a homerun, but missed the triple to go hit-for-the-cycle. He tried for triple in the first inning, but was thrown out at third base then. Engelhardt scored once and had nine RBI's. Dayron Puriël, who already practiced for some months with the team, made his debut with Almere and was today's designated hitter in his first big league-game since the 2003 season when he played for PSV. Giovanni Samboe also homered for Almere.
